History
[edit]Spry’s original name was intersville, after the person that bought the land that spry now sits on. It was later changed to Spry for unknown reasons. This small town is known for its high cigar production in the 1900s. If you would ask people where spry starts and ends, it would be likely that you get multiple answers. Most people think that it starts near the Dunkin' Donuts on queen st, and end where Mack’s ice cream used to sit. Most of the houses in spry were built between 1920 and 1960. They mostly consist on brick cape cods and ranchers, with some newer homes mixed in. The main school district is Dallastown, with the only school in spry being York Township Elementary. This school was built between the years of 1935 and 1945. Before then, kids went to the school house that was located near Spry Church. It got torn down in years near 1970, because it wasn’t being used. If you have ever been to spry, you would know how many small businesses there are. After all, that is what spry is known for.
