John Marshall

[edit]

Just wondering why John Marshall was removed from.the touring members section. His rhythm guitar contributions are well known, as mentioned in this article and this article, and some videos on YouTube which can't be used for obvious reasons. Mewhen123 (talk) 09:58, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I second this. He filled in for Hetfield on two separate tours, and they even played with him at the 30th anniversary concert, so even the band themselves probably considers him a former touring member. Inbloom1997 (talk) 12:58, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Add Damian C. Phillips to former member list/timeline (April 23, 1982-May 25 1982) https://www.metallica.com/museum/orion-a-tribute-to-cliff-burton/in-print/lars-metallica-timeline-1982-1987-orion-a-tribute-to-cliff-burton-artifact.html https://ultimateclassicrock.com/metallica-brad-parker-show/ Inbloom1997 (talk) 21:10, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done – he played one show with them, not even in the same boat; same goes for other guys who have been discussed previously like Grant and Marshall. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 14:31, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Metallica is NOT an LA band.

[edit]

Metallica is a San Francisco Thrash metal band. FFS 71.169.135.146 (talk) 13:31, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This Wiki article only says the band was formed in Los Angeles. It does not refer to them as a "LA band" at all. -Fnlayson (talk) 14:20, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Metallica's Logo to info box

[edit]

I propose adding the Metallica logo to the bottom of the info box, just as it appears on Nirvana's and Megadeath's page. The band's logo is a crucial part of its identity and is arguably more recognizable than its members or even its music. While I acknowledge that a version of the logo already appears in the article body, it represents the 1980s design. The current version, introduced in 2008, differs slightly and is the one prominently featured on Metallica's official website and marketing materials. Since logos are commonly used in info boxes for sports teams, organizations, and brands to enhance recognition, it would make sense to apply the same standard to bands—especially those with widely recognized logos. I would be more convinced if there was a reliable source talking about the changes to the logo, possibly something like this. But even in that case, the different logos should be stacked on top of each other so that the reader can readily see the changes. The logo is already shown by itself, and embedded on the Big 4 poster image, and worked into the Guitar Hero image, so it's not like we are lacking it.
